How we got here
When I opened the Nomad store in 2019 I had a beautiful ignorance that I couldn’t fail, that there was no going back. Well, I was wrong. My ignorance couldn’t have planned for all of the external forces that continued to push on my plans from the day I opened until the day I closed.
What happened inside, and outside, the four walls of the store was nothing short of magical. Thousands of people were introduced to bands from all over the East Coast. Hundreds of kids got their first skateboard and were introduced to a brand new life. Dozens of people got their first surfboard and caught their first waves. An entire community was introduced to the art of some incredibly talented friends.
My hope is that lives were changed forever for the better.
Here I am almost a year after the store closed trying to figure out how I keep the spirit and soul alive. I can’t just give up on my dream just because I don’t have the store front. The Nomad life can’t die.
A few months ago I put together the first show since Sept ‘25. It felt so good to stand in a crowd of friends listening to some fast, hard, and loud music again. It was definitely a strange feeling doing the same thing I was doing in my shop but in someone else’s space. The feeling and outcome of the show felt the same and that’s the goal; bring people together to celebrate life in one way or another. So, when Adam of “Oh, Are They” approached me about throwing an album release party for “Be Here”- a comp album he put together, there was no doubt in my mind if I wanted to do this or not. If you want to see all your Nomad friends again this is the place and time to do it. On the floor, in front of a band, is the best place you can be. We have 8 of the 12 bands playing on 2 stages. We have vendors and tattoos. Food and drinks from Broken Goblet. It’s going to be a party and celebration of the arts and friendships.
But, Nomad is more than music. I want to encourage you to follow along as I find the formula to show you a new life. Come surfing, camping, skating, and snowboarding with us. Come see what life can be if you live like a Nomad. Come live a life full of adventure and exploration, even if it is local and not off the beaten path.
This is just the beginning, again.
